Waddell Demands a Comprehensive Analysis of Sewage Discharge into Red River

“Manitoba needs a comprehensive analysis of sewage discharge into the Red River from the south perimeter to the North edge of Winnipeg. This must be done to properly determine the levels of nutrient loading that are entering Manitoba waters.”

While the NDP continues to stand behind its misdirected Water Protection Act, aimed largely at the Ag Industry, raw sewage from within Winnipeg has continued to flow into the Red River and then Lake Winnipeg. (more…)

Manitoba Economy Under Siege

AGRI-POST – Manitoba’s economy could be on the brink of collapse if the proposed strict sets of regulations under the Water Protection Act are brought forward. At the outset, let there be no mistake, everyone, and I mean everyone, wants to see our water protected. That is a given.

The Water Protection Act was sworn into law on January 1, 2006. It’s a very short act as, legislative acts go, only a few pages. It’s what’s called enabling legislation. That means it stated in a very general way and the regulations are added afterward by Order-in-Council. That means the provincial cabinet makes the regulations and there’s little or nothing the opposition MLAs can do about it. (more…)
